About John

John Benditt is author of The Boatmaker (Tin House, 2015), which won the National Jewish Book Award for Debut Fiction and was long-listed for the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Award for Debut Fiction and the inaugural Brooklyn Public Library Literary Prize. His work has appeared in Tin House, Guernica, Vol. 1 Brooklyn and the Northwest Review. Before turning to writing fulltime he was an editor at Scientific American and Science and served as Editor in Chief of Technology Review. As an undergraduate at Swarthmore, he studied poetry with Adrienne Rich and was awarded the John Russell Hayes Poetry Prize by Robert Creeley.
